Troubleshooting
Each guide here starts from the symptom you can see or hear and works toward the cause in the order a technician would: cheapest, safest checks first, then the ones that need tools or a second person. Where a multimeter helps, the guides give the readings you should expect.
Before you touch anything: disconnect power, and never stand, swim or work under a raised boat. If a lift is slipping with a boat on it, keep people off the dock and out of the water around it until the load is lowered or supported.

- Boat Lift Raising Unevenly: Why One Side Is Higher and How to Level ItWhy one side or corner of a boat lift rises faster: cable length, drum wraps, slipping drums, off-center loads, settled legs. Measure, diagnose, and relevel.
- Boat Lift Remote Control Not Working: Fob, Receiver, Relay, or Lift?Fix a boat lift remote that stopped working: fob battery, range, pairing, receiver power, relays, and limit switches. Readings to expect and when to call a pro.
- Boat Lift Solar and Battery Problems: Slow Lift, Dead Battery, or Panel Not ChargingFix a solar boat lift that runs slow, dies mid-lift, or won't charge. Battery voltage readings, panel and controller tests, and an energy budget example.
- Boat Sits Crooked on the Lift: Diagnosing Lean, Off-Center, and Bow-Down ProblemsWhy a boat lists, sits off center, or sits bow-down on a lift: bunk height, cradle level, centering, weight, and pontoon tubes. Measure it and fix it right.
- Hydraulic Boat Lift Problems: Drifting Down, Slow Lifting, Pump Runs but No Lift, and LeaksFix hydraulic boat lift problems: drifting down, slow lifting, pump runs but no lift, and fluid leaks. Diagnostic order, readings, and when to call a pro.
- Noisy Boat Lift: What Grinding, Squealing, and Clunking MeanIdentify boat lift noises by sound and timing: grinding gearboxes, squealing sheaves and belts, clunking cables and drums. What each means and how to fix it.
